A Passion for Global Health

Seelye Stoffregen ’23 didn’t have to look far from her Greencastle home to find the right place for her higher education. 

She chose DePauw because of the Global Health Program and for the chance to run track for her dad, DePauw track and field head coach Kori Stoffregen.

This summer she has been interning with the Putnam County Health Department. She’s not new to the health department; it’s her third internship. The first was as a high school student, and the second was as a DePauw sophomore during the height of COVID-19. 

“I love the people I work with in this department, and have enjoyed working with them throughout my educational career. They’ve given me the opportunity to explore different options and career paths as I’ve been able to shadow nurses and administrators to see what they do on a daily basis.”

Following graduation, she plans to attend grad school for a master’s in public health and hospital administration. 

This fall Stoffregen will study global health and development policy in Geneva, Switzerland, at the World Health Organization. She’ll also be researching and comparing health care systems in Switzerland and Morocco as part of an independent research project.

Stoffregen credits professor Sharon Crary as her inspiration. “Not only has professor Crary guided me throughout my college career, but she inspires me to push myself and explore opportunities that I didn’t know were possible.”
