The DePauw University Band is one of the premiere instrumental ensembles in the School of Music.  Student musicians earn their positions with the ensemble through an audition process, typically held in late August and early December.  Led by Dr. Craig Paré, the DePauw University Band performs concerts each semester in our concert venue, Kresge Auditorium in the Green Center for the Performing Arts, contributes to collaborative performances such as the Music of the 21st Century and our renowned Holiday Gala, and performs for all DePauw University Commencement Exercises.

Earning a national and international reputation for its exceptional performances, the University Band has produced ten critically-acclaimed compact discs through its CD Recording Project, issued commercially on the Mark Masters label.  These recordings are available from iTunes, Spotify, and YouTube. The University Band has also recorded wind works for the Kjos Publishing Company and Daehn Publications. The ensemble has been host to world-renowned musicians including composers Joseph Schwantner, John Corigliano, Christopher Theofanidis, Susan Botti, Joan Tower, Augusta Read Thomas, Libby Larsen, Bright Sheng, Roberto Sierra, and Chen Yi, and conductors Eugene Migliaro Corporon, Jack Stamp, Joan deAlbuquerque, Roby George, and John Lynch.

DePauw student musicians, from both the School of Music and the College of Liberal Arts, are welcome to inquire about, and audition for, the University Band.
