Seventh-ranked Tigers Sweep Anderson; Improve to 8-0

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw, ranked seventh in Division III, improved to 8-0 with a doubleheader sweep of visiting Anderson. The Tigers won the first game, 3-2, and took the nightcap by a 9-1 score in six innings.

In the opener, Anderson took a 1-0 lead in the second when Lauren Smith singled and moved to second on Tori Price's sacrifice bunt. Natalie Moorhouse drove in Smith with a single.

The Tigers tied the score in the third after Rachel MacBeth was hit by a pitch and moved to second on Cymone Allen's sacrifice bunt. Jen Kosinski followed with an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1.

Holly Paris' solo homer in the fourth gave DePauw a 2-1 lead and Haley Buchanan's single in the fifth brought home Allen and gave the Tigers a 3-1 advantage.

Anderson's final run came in the sixth on Price's solo homer to center.

DePauw totaled seven hits led by Kosinski and Paris with two each. Katie Lee and Samantha Steele each had two of the Ravens' eight hits.

Emily Dieckmann improved to 4-0 with the win, while Monica Crowe slipped to 5-2.

In game two, DePauw took a 1-0 lead in the first on Kosinski's solo homer. The Tigers added two more in the second on Jamie Story's single which plated Lauren Krumwiede and Buchanan.

Krumwiede walked in the fourth and later scored on MacBeth's single to left. The Tigers expanded their lead to 5-0 in the fifth after they loaded the bases with two walks and an error before Krumwiede drove in Paris with a fielder's choice.

Anderson reached the board in the sixth when Steele and Katy Ogden led off with singles and Smith delivered a two-out single which scored Steele.

MacBeth walked to lead off the sixth and Allen followed with single. Each advanced on Kosinski's sacrifice bunt before Hallett drove in both with a single. Paris then reached on a base hit and Buchanan on an error which allowed Hallett to score. The game ended due to the 8-run rule when Kate Hendrickson singled through the right side, scoring Paris.

DePauw totaled 11 hits led by two each from Allen, Kosinski and Paris. Steele had three of Anderson's seven hits and Smith followed with two.

Kahla Nolan improved to 3-0 with the win, while Smith dropped to 2-2.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday, March 24, when they face Southern Maine and Middlebury in Clermont, Fla.
