Tigers Roll to 21-Point Win at Denison

Granville, Ohio - DePauw led by as many as 28 in the first half at Denison and the hosts got no closer than 20 in the second half as the Tigers took a 77-56 North Coast Athletic Conference road victory.

DePauw improved to 14-8 overall and 7-6 in NCAC play, while Denison dropped to 8-14 overall and 6-7 in the conference.

The Tigers scored the game's first seven points and kept the Big Red off the scoreboard for the first four minutes. DePauw's 32-7 run in the middle of the half extended the lead to 39-11 with 2:38 remaining.

DePauw took a 42-15 lead to the break on the strength of 56.3 percent shooting from the floor, a 24-12 rebounding edge and turning the ball over just twice.

Taking their biggest lead of the game after scoring on their opening possession of the second half, the Tigers had little trouble the rest of the way.

Barry Flynn led DePauw with 20 points, while Kevin Sullivan, added career-high totals of 15 points and seven rebounds while hitting 7-of-8 tries from the floor. Sullivan, who was playing against his brother Chris (Denison assistant coach), also shared the Tigers' assist lead with Pat Haggin as each had three. Tommy Fernitz added 11 points and Adam Botts 10.

Dimonde Hale paced Denison with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Alex Longi followed with 12 points and Brad Wooland 10.

DePauw shot 51.6 percent from the field and hit 7-17 from three-point range while committing just four turnovers. Denison connected on just 39.6 percent and made just two of 13 three-pointers.

The Tigers return home on Saturday, February 9, when they host Oberlin at 3 p.m.
