Paige Gooch Named an All-American Scholar

Paige GoochGreencastle, Ind. - DePauw rising senior Paige Gooch (Fort Mitchell, Ky./Beechwood) has been named a Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar recipient for the 2012-13 academic year.

Gooch, who earlier was named a Capital One Academic All-America, is majoring in both economics and mathematics and is also a student in DePauw's Management Fellows Program.

Finishing in a tie for 12th at the 2013 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships, Gooch led the Tigers to an eighth-place team finish. She earned WGCA second team all-America honors for the third straight year and was the WGCA Freshman of the Year in 2011.

The Tigers' leader with a 78.21 stroke average this year, Gooch won three tournaments and finished in the top 10 in eight of the 13 events in which she competed. Her season-low round of 73 came in the opening round of the NCAA Championships.

Gooch was the overall medalist at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships and won the first NCAC Championship event. She also was named the NCAC Player of the Year and was named to the WGCA All-Great Lakes Region Team.

In her three seasons, she's posted a 79.32 stroke average and has won five tournaments with a best round of 72.

Gooch was among the 644 collegiate golfers recognized and one of just 89 who compete on the Division III level.
