Gasaway Earns NCAC Honor

Alex GasawayGreencastle, Ind- DePauw senior forward Alex Gasaway (Crawfordsville, Ind./Crawfordsville) was named the North Coast Athletic Conference player of the week after leading the Tigers in two wins last week.

Gasaway notched her first double-double of the season grabbing 11 rebounds and scoring 11 points in the Tigers’ 73-48 win over Wittenberg last Wednesday. She followed that performance up by tying her season-high 20 point output in an 80-47 win over Kenyon. Gasaway shot 50.0 percent (12-24) over the two-game stretch grabbing 19 rebounds as well.

Prior to Saturday’s game against Kenyon, Gasaway and her fellow senior classmates were honored for their contributions to the program. DePauw’s five seniors (Gasaway, Ali Ross, Alison Stephens, Erin McGinnis and Ann Sarkisian) improved to 110-6 with the win over Kenyon. The 110 wins are second by a Division III senior class this year and the .948 winning percentage is the best in the nation.

Additionally, Gasaway became just the second player in school history with at least 1,100 points and 600 rebounds.

The top-ranked Tigers close out their conference season Saturday, February 22, when they travel to Ohio Wesleyan. This contest is scheduled for a 1 p.m. tipoff.
