Former Assistant Women's Golf Coach Betty Ann Harmless Dies at Age 92

Born May 14, 1925 in Bainbridge, Indiana, she graduated from Greencastle High School on May 28, 1943, she joined her husband, Howard, during his Army Air Corps and Aviation Cadet training at Maxwell Field, North Carolina State and Sioux Falls Air Force Base, South Dakota.

The couple moved back to Greencastle, and Betty Ann Harmless was the champion of the Windy Hill Golf Club several times and served as president of the club's board. She was also a regular competitor in Indiana Women's Golf Association (IWGA) state tournaments and served as the organization's president in 1980. She also served as president of the Indiana Senior Women's Golf Association in 1983 and 2001. In 1979, Harmless won the Old Ladies Golf Association (OLGA) Championship shooting an 85.

A memorial celebration will be held this Saturday, October 28, at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church, 520 East Seminary Street in Greencastle.
