Prof. Ayden Adler to Discuss 'Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Classical Music Institutions' at UCLA

April 29, 2018

Ayden Adler, professor of music, history and University studies at DePauw University, will be among the participants at “Song of Ourselves,” a day of programs presented by the UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) Herb Alpert School of Music on May 3.

Adler, "a professional horn player, orchestral administrator, author, educator and dean," will join in conversation with Robert Fink, professor of musicology, on the topic, "Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Classical Music Institutions: The Case of the Orchestra."

The day's events are designed to "not only entertain guests, but also stimulate dialogue on issues of diversity, equity and inclusion across the school," notes an announcement. "Dozens of UCLA faculty, students, and guest performers and scholars will be featured at pop-up performances, concerts of Western classical music, a world music showcase and at presentations by ethnomusicologists and musicologists."
