Room for All's Marilyn Paarlberg '71 Featured in Newspaper
January 15, 2012
"I think people have the choice of letting our faith constrict or enlarge our horizons," says Marilyn Paarlberg, executive director of Room for All. The 1971 DePauw University leads a national not-for-profit organization working for inclusion of LGBT people in the life and ministry of the Reformed Church in America. She is featured in New York's Albany Times Union.
Marilyn (Verduin) Paarlberg adds, "The church often seems to be catching up with important social issues, adjusting after the fact. We have another chance in the matter of LGBT inclusion in society; the church needs to be a prophetic voice and help shape the conversation."
The newspaper notes, "Born and raised on a farm south of Chicago, she majored in English at DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind., and studied at the Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Mich. ... A writer and a poet, she has been a freelance writer, a Christian education director and high school English teacher."
