Faculty news roundup - May 11, 2020

Bruce Stinebrickner, professor of political science, has accepted a four-year appointment to Transylvania University's Bingham Fellow Renewal Committee, a four-person committee made up of senior faculty from selective liberal arts colleges from around the country. The committee is charged with judging Transylvania faculty members’ applications for renewals of five-year Bingham Fellowships for Excellence in Teaching. 

Derek Ford, assistant professor of education studies, wrote an opinion piece for The Hampton Institute’s website, “The Colonial Gaze in Overdrive: The Latest Rumors and Allegations about the DPRK,” May 6. He also participated in the May 4 radio show/podcast “By Any Means Necessary,” discussing developments in North Korea.

Jeff McCall, communication and theatre professor, wrote an opinion piece for The Hill, “The nation's free press should refuse federal bailouts,” May 2. He also was quoted May 7 by APZ News in “Biden has held more than two dozen fundraisers since Super Tuesday – but just 3 press briefings” and by Fox News in “CNN attack on ABC anchor David Muir’s Trump interview draws criticism.”
