The article points out that Smith "teaches an undergraduate course at DePauw University and leads sessions at the Canyon Ranch health resorts on 'The Science & Skill of Happiness'."

Next month's program will raise funds for the Cancer Resource Centre, a program of Munster's Community Cancer Research Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of cancer care in northwest Indiana and the south Chicago suburbs. All services of the Cancer Resource Centre are offered free of charge to those in need.

"In the midst of a successful business career, Smith received life-altering news that set him on an entirely new journey to discover the ingredients that lead to true happiness. Through research and study, he began to understand that the most joyful people on earth have three things in common. They remember the past with peace, anticipate the future with confidence and live in the present with joy and meaning."

"I love this University," Smith declared on May 18, 2008, as he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Business Administration degree by DePauw. "It enabled me to find a friend in French class. More profoundly, it enabled me to find a friend deep, deep inside myself. May it enable you to do the same." Video Link [Download Video: "Douglas A. Smith '68" - 10,622kb]
