Karen Connell Speaker Series Artist Cody Tumblin

On March 17th, the Karen Connell Speaker Series Fund and the Department of Art & Art History is pleased to welcome Cody Tumblin to DePauw University to talk about his recent work. Cody Tumblin (b. 1991 Nashville, TN) is a painter, cook, and occasional writer who lives and works in Chicago, IL where he received his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2013. His work searches and describes both literal and figurative landscapes of longing, desire, memory, and loss through densely collaged canvases of dyed, painted, and sewn forms. Tumblin is a Hopper Prize finalist and recently exhibited work at Andrew Rafacz Gallery, Devening Projects, Egg Collective, Everybody, Good Naked, and No Place Gallery. He has attended residencies at Gødsbanen in Denmark and Ace Hotel in Chicago as well as been interviewed and published by Art Maze, Comp, Hunted Projects, and Vast Magazine. He recently published a cookbook titled Today’s Special with Extended Play Press in Nashville, Tennessee.
