Cosmoculus: A Solo Exhibit by Claire Ashley
On view: August 23 – October 10, 2021

Greencastle, IN – DePauw University presents Cosmoculus opens August 23 and runs through October 10, 2021.

Cosmoculus features larger than life inflatable sculptures and interactive environments utilizing virtual reality technology thanks to a collaboration with the Tenzor Technology Center at DePauw University. Exploring the notion of a dimensional painting, the allure of color, and the whimsical nature of art, Claire Ashley creates one-of-a-kind installations for viewers to enjoy. The inflatable sculptures also take on a life of their own as they billow in their environments alongside each other. The perceptible and even imperceptible movements that are generated through the process of inflating each of these sculptures connects to Ashley’s interest in the chaotic and unpredictable. Claire Ashley will also present an artist lecture that will be open to the public on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 4:15 pm in the Peeler Art Center Auditorium.

Online viewing options, lectures, and exhibition materials are available for remote engagement. For an up-to-date listing of free events and lectures associated with the exhibition, please visit: https://www.depauw.edu/arts-and-culture/arts/peeler/exhibits/
