Voris had been offensive coordinator at Edinboro University in Pennsylvania. He's also been an assistant coach at the University of Illinois, the University of Texas and DePauw.

Dean A. Rein, vice president for external relations and chairman of the search committee at Carroll College told the Beacon-News of Aurora, Illinois, "Jeff is the perfect choice... he is an excellent coach and tireless recruiter, and a man of impeccable character."

Like DePauw, Carroll College is an NCAA Division III institution. Rein says the background Voris brings makes for a good fit, adding, "he understands that the ultimate goal for our scholar-athletes is to earn their degrees and become successful in life."

Voris holds a number of single-game and career records at DePauw, including passing yardage (415 game, 6035 career), pass attempts (59 game, 910 career) and touchdown passes (56 career).
