Ashley Krieg '01 Receives Walker Cup

The Walker Cup recognizes the senior student judged to have contributed the most to the University during his or her four-year college career (hear more: Audio Link[DOWNLOAD AUDIO: "The Walker Cup" 94KB]

Krieg, a communication arts and sciences major from Knoxville, Tennessee, was cited for her academic excellence, and for her many leadership roles on campus, and in service to her community. Audio Link[DOWNLOAD AUDIO: "Speechless" 80KB] The senior is director of the DePauw Speaking and Listening Center; is head mentor of the DePauw.year1 program and guided 26 freshmen through their first-year experience; is chairman of the Senior Gift Drive; served as chair of the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life from 1998-2001; was a member of the Board of Directors for the Putnam County American Cancer Society; volunteered as a "student friend" for a third grade student at Ridpath Elementary School; and has also served in positions with Mortar Board, College Republicans, the Public Safety Advisory Board, Multicultural Affairs Board and in her sorority, Delta Gamma.

Per tradition, for receiving the Walker Cup, Ashley Krieg will speak at DePauw's commencement ceremony, Saturday, May 19.
