Senior Singer Profiled in Hometown Newspaper

December 10, 2001, Greencastle, Ind. - Katrina J. Cline, a senior at DePauw University, is a "local soloist on the brink of a career in Europe," according to the Huntington (Indiana) Herald Press, her hometown newspaper. A lengthy article entitled "Singing with a plan" profiles the 21-year-old vocal performance major.

A student of piano since the second grade, “I started singing with a purpose when I was in eighth grade,” Cline told the paper, which adds, "During her junior year in high school, she met a voice teacher from DePauw University in Greencastle. The instructor convinced Cline, the daughter of Steve and Cindy Cline, that she belonged at DePauw. After graduating from HNHS in 1998, she enrolled at DePauw."

Musical notesThe article continues, "She's a senior now, majoring in vocal performance; last semester, she spent six months studying and performing in Milan, Italy. She plans to go back next summer to tour and perform."
