June 13, 2002

June 13, 2002, Greencastle, Ind. - "Honors classes. Extracurricular activities. A schedule befitting a high-achiever. Call it just another day in the life of Speedway [Indiana] High School valedictorian Katie Billman," begins a story in the Indianapolis Star. Nikki Cobb writes of Billman, "She took almost exclusively honors or advanced classes when they were offered, excelled in basketball and tennis, and edited the school newspaper. For a senior project, she designed and implemented a school Web site, skills she will use this fall in her communications studies at DePauw University. She will be one of about 20 students accepted to the "Media Fellows" regimen of special seminars, projects and, in her third year, an internship in the industry."

The article notes that Billman's grade point average was 4.4 on a four-point scale. You can read the story in its entirety at the Star's Web site by clicking here.

The newspaper also recently profiled Andrew Arthur Millis, valedictorian of Center Grove High School's senior class, who will be attending DePauw in the fall. You can learn more about Millis by clicking here.
