Rev. Larry Stewart '80 Profiled in Indianapolis Star

August 17, 2002

August 17, 2002, Greencastle, Ind. - "The welcome here has been phenomenal," the Rev. Larry Stewart, a 1980 graduate of DePauw University tells the Indianapolis Star in a story today that tells of his new assignment as associate pastor of Plainfield (Indiana) United Methodist Church. "I hope to stay for quite some time." Rev. Stewart, who most recently served as pastor of Abundant Harvest United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, tells the paper, "I'm an avid student and lover of the Bible. I think people should take the Bible seriously, rather than literally. It's not like a Chinese menu, where we can pick and choose the parts we like."

The article by the Star's Lynn Hopper notes, "Stewart, who graduated from DePauw University and did graduate work at Duke University, is working on his doctorate in pastoral care and counseling at Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis."
