November 17, 2002, Greencastle, Ind. - "There would be no Monon Miracle for DePauw," notes one of two article in today's Indianapolis Star on Saturday's Monon Bell game, won by Wabash College 35-7. You can access the stories by clicking here and here.

The game was also written up in newspapers across the USA. You can read summaries in the online editions of California's Monterey Herald (click here) and Mississippi's Clarion-Ledger, which ran a story headlined "After 109 games, it's even" (click here).

An article in Saturday's Indianapolis Star previewed the Bell battle (read it here). It notes, "The Bell rivalry, which has been televised on ESPN2 and chronicled in Sports Illustrated, is almost dead even. DePauw leads the series 50-49-9 [Wabash's win Saturday ties the series]. DePauw is 26-24-3 in Greencastle. Wabash is 23-22-5 in Crawfordsville." DePauw head coach Nick Mourouzis tells the newspaper, "I think that's because of the rivalry, because there is so much desire to beat them. The records mean nothing. There is no home-field advantage. That's all part of it."
