DePauw University Band Performs Sunday Afternoon

February 18, 2003, Greencastle, Ind. - The DePauw University Band will present a free concert this Sunday, February 23, at 3 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium of the Performing Arts Center. The program will include Fiesta! By Philip Sparke, Ballad for Band by Morton Gould, Julius Fucik's Florentiner, Eric Whitacre's October, and Of Sailors and Whales by W. Francis McBeth, a five-movement work based on scenes from Herman Melville's Moby Dick.

This will be the band's first performance with conductor, Carl Kling, interim director of the band. A native of Texas, Professor Kling is a graduate of Texas Wesleyan University and Stephen F. Austin University, and is completing his doctorate in wind conducting at Indiana University.
