DePauw Delta Chi Chapter Raising Money for Hurricane Relief, Newspaper Writes

September 30, 2004

September 30, 2004, Greencastle, Ind. - "Delta Chi fraternity hopes to rain down aid on the victims of recent Florida hurricanes, with a coordinated relief effort," begins an article in today's Banner-Graphic of Greencastle. "Ellie Boyle, house director for Delta Chi at DePauw University, is spearheading the project. 'As an individual person you think you can't do much, so for every individual that has said that, this is the time to do it if you really want to help. You can't do everything as an individual, but if you do it as a group, it is a lot easier.'"

Writer Sarah Lipps adds, "The effort, which the Delta Chis will use as their philanthropy project for the year, will be coordinated with various Putnam County businesses, schools, and organizations, such as Wal-Mart, and Greencastle High School and Middle School student councils. The fraternity will kick off its project Saturday at the Berry Street festival, selling painted pumpkins for a minimum donation of $3. The money will be used to buy canned goods. Flyers will also be passed out to residences at the festival to let them know that the Delta Chis would be happy to take whatever clothes and useful fall-leaves.jpgitems are left over after the sale."

The story points out that donations are being accepted at the Delta Chi house and the Putnam County Senior Center. Pick-ups can be arranged by calling Ellie Boyle at (765) 653-3917.
