Shephard and Swift named to all-region football team

December 10, 2003

DePauw junior Jamarcus Shephard and senior Joshua Swift have been selected to the all-South Region football team by Football Gazette.

Shephard was selected to the second team as a kick return specialist after earning Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Year honors. He currently ranks second in Division III with an average of 34.7 yards per kickoff return. Among his 19 returns were two that went for touchdowns of 95 and 91 yards in a win over Millsaps. That accomplishment set a DePauw and SCAC record and tied the NCAA Division III mark for kickoff return touchdowns in a single game. Shephard was voted DePauw's most valuable player and its offensive player of the year.

Swift earned third team honors as a defensive end after earning first team all-SCAC accolades. Swift finished the season with 47 total tackles including 33 solos. He led the squad with 17 tackles for losses totaling 66 yards including a team-high 6.5 sacks for 44 yards. Swift also led the team with nine quarterback hurries and was DePauw's tri-defensive player of the year.
