The free performance, which begins at 7:30 p.m. in Thompson Recital Hall of the Performing Arts Center, features a diverse array of repertoire from American musicals such as Show Boat, Guys & Dolls, and more.

“The review is essentially some of the best known duets, trios, quartets and larger ensembles from the Broadway repertoire,” says Dawn Harris, the show’s director and assistant professor of music at DePauw. “The program is representative of the history of the American musical from the 1920s with musicals like Show Boat to recent hits such The Secret Garden and Miss Saigon.”

In addition to the program's historical emphasis, Harris also sought to actively engage her students in this project beyond their typical roles as performers. “Many of the scenes have been directed by students from the class and most of the technical work has been accomplished by the class, as well,” says Harris of their efforts.

The result, the professor says, is an event that should be appealing to musical theatre fans of all persuasions. “It should prove to be an exciting evening, showcasing many of the worlds well-loved scenes, as well as some lesser known, but wonderful gems of the musical theatre repertoire,” Harris concludes.
