Prof. Carl Huffman Presents Paper at International Conference in Greece and Turkey

Huffman, professor of classical studies at DePauw University, has just returned from an international conference on the early Greek philosophers Pythagoras and Heraclitus. The conference, "Symposium Philosophiae Antiquae Quintum: Pythagoras and Heraclitus," was organized by the Institute for Philosophical Research in Patras, Greece, headed by Apostolos Pierris.

The event was held on the island of Samos in Greece and in the city of Kusadasi, Turkey, July 18-26, 2005. Participation in the conference was by invitation and included scholars from Cambridge, Oxford, Heidelberg, Tel Aviv, St.emison-spring.jpgPetersburg, The University of California Berkeley, The University of Michigan, New York University, Pomona College and Brigham Young University. Professor Huffman presented a paper on the Pythagorean philosopher Philolaus and his critique of the philosophy of Heraclitus.
