Funeral Arrangements for Senior Vanessa Anne Baer Are Announced

[9/13 UPDATE: Students who wish to attend the funeral may take a bus, which will leave campus at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday. It will depart from the front of the Memorial Student Union building. To reserve a seat, please call extension 4270. The on-campus memorial service will take place at 4 p.m. Thursday in Meharry Hall.]

Vanessa Anne Baer.jpgSeptember 12, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - Funeral arrangements for Vanessa Anne Baer, a DePauw University senior, have been announced. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Home, located at 1241 Manchester Avenue in Wabash, Indiana. Services will take place Wednesday, September 14, at 10 a.m. A campus memorial service will be held on Thursday at 4 p.m. in Meharry Hall.

Ms. Baer, a 21-year-old sociology and anthropology major and education minor from Urbana, Indiana, was killed in a plane crash Saturday night in Wabash County, Indiana. The accident also killed her boyfriend, 25-year-old James D. Swan, and his parents, John and Kathy Swan, all of Wabash.east college holton.jpg

The memorial guest book for Vanessa Baer may be signed by clicking here. Her family asks that memorials be made to the Vanessa Anne Baer Scholarship Fund.

DePauw students, faculty and staff who wish to speak with a counselor or a University chaplain may call extension 4261.
