Author Beth Lordan Presents Reading Wednesday Night

beth lordan.jpgSeptember 13, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - Author Beth Lordan -- the recipient of a creative writing fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as an O. Henry Award for her short fiction -- will visit the campus of DePauw University this Wednesday, September 14. The fiction writer will present a reading at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Richard E. Peeler Art Center, which is free and open to all. Lordan's appearance is sponsored by the James and Marilou Kelly Writers Series.

Beth Lordan is the author of three books of fiction: the novel August Heat; the short story collection And Both Shall Row; and her latest, a novel in stories, But Come Ye Back. The Christian Science Monitor wrote that the new book offers "quiet stories East College 2005 5.jpgwith emotions like old stepping-stones that have sunk beneath the surface." Her short fiction has appeared in the Best of American Short Stories 2002 and the Atlantic Monthly, among other places. She teaches fiction writing at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
