Tigers and Little Giants renew rivalry for 112th time

November 11, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - The annual Monon Bell game kicks off at 1:07 p.m. on Saturday and features two streaking football teams. GAME NOTES

Host DePauw enters the game with a 7-1 record and on a seven-game win streak after last week's 60-21 win at Rose-Hulman. The Tigers earned at least a share of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title with the victory.

Wabash comes into the weekend with a 9-0 record after a 52-0 win over Denison last Saturday. The Little Giants wrapped up the North Coast Athletic Conference championship with the win and the league's automatic qualification into the NCAA Division III Championship.

Saturday's game marks the 112th meeting between the two schools with the all-time series tied 51-51-9. The contest is the 74th for possession of the Monon Bell which entered the series in 1932. DePauw leads the Monon Bell portion of the rivalry, 35-32-6. A detailed history of the rivalry is available on DePauw's official Monon Bell site.

The game sold out two weeks ago, but there are several ways to follow the action. DePauw's student station WGRE begins its coverage at 10 a.m. with the award-winning pregame show in addition to the complete game coverage.

Saturday's contest will also be televised to a nationwide audience on DirecTV Channel 321 and, locally, on WHMB (Channel 40 in Indianapolis). The telecast, which begins at 1 p.m., will also be available through a Webcast.
