Tigers improve to 7-1 with sixth straight win

December 10, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw, ranked 12th in the Division III Coaches' Poll and 17th by D3hoops.com, improved to 7-1 with a 94-56 victory over William Woods. The Owls dropped to 6-3 with the loss.

William Woods led by as many as five early at 14-9 before the Tigers scored 10 straight at the start of a 37-10 run. The Tigers led at the intermission, 46-27. DePauw started strong in the second half with a 22-5 run that put the game away.

Suzy Doughty led the Tigers with 13 points and seven assists, while Bridget Bailey added 12 points and a school-record nine blocked shots. Bailey broke the mark of six blocks set by Kelly Bailey against Hendrix on February 7, 1999. As a team, DePauw swatted away 11 shots, breaking the previous record of nine against Franklin on February 1, 1997.

Stephanie Burger paced the Owls with 13 points followed by Shanna Lonsberry with 11 and Kim Tennill and Blanca Casale with 10 apiece. Lonsberry grabbed six boards for William Woods and Tennill dished out five assists.

The Tigers shot a season-high 51.3 percent from the floor and held the Owls to just 36.2 percent. DePauw outrebounded William Woods 44-30 in claiming its sixth straight win.

DePauw returns to action on Saturday, December 17, when it hosts Wittenberg at 6 p.m.
