DSC_4103.jpgJanuary 8, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - "Rose-Hulman lost to DePauw -- ranked 10th in the latest NCAA Division III poll by d3hoops.com -- by an 87-64 score" yesterday in women's basketball, reports the Terre Haute Tribune-Star. At the start of the second half, Rose-Hulman pulled within two points of the Tigers, "but DePauw switched defenses from a man-to-man to what Coach Kris Huffman described as a halfcourt trap, causing plenty of turnovers and allowing the Tigers to pull away," writes David Hughes of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game, which was played in Terre Haute.

"They run their sets so well, so we knew we might struggle with the man[-to-man]," Coach Huffman tells the newspaper. "When we switched [defenses], it ignited us and gave us confidence."

DePauw was led by Liz Bondi and Bridget Bailey (seen in photo at top), who scored 15 points each. Three other players scored in double-digits in improving DePauw to 13-1 overall and 3-0 in the SCAC. The Tigers, ranked ninth in the latest Division III Coaches' poll, have now won twelve straight games.

The same article reports that DePauw's men's basketball team lost to Rose-Hulman 69-52 last night. Read more at the newspaper's Web site. For the very latest on Tiger athletics, click here.
