Two Faculty Members Judge Brown Music Competition

orcenith smith.jpgFebruary 12, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - Two professors in the DePauw University School of Music served as judges in yesterday's 2006 Brown Music Competition, reports Indiana's Columbus Republic. "Orcenith Smith (seen at left), music director for the orchestra and opera at DePauw University" is listed among the judges for the instrumental contest, while "Keith Tonne (pictured below right), director of opera at DePauw University" judged the vocal competition. They were joined by judges from Indiana and Butler Universities and the University of Indianapolis.Keith Tonne.jpg

"The Robert and Betty Brown Awards for Vocal Excellence were established through the Heritage Fund in 1985 by Robert and Betty Brown to honor Robert Brown’s mother, Anna Newell Brown, a distinguished vocalist who contributed much to the cultural life of the community," the story states.
