Fifth-ranked Tigers win 24th straight; advance to SCAC semifinals

February 24, 2006, Memphis, Tenn. - The fifth-ranked DePauw women advanced to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals after an 80-61 quarterfinal win over Millsaps. The Tigers improved to 25-1 with the victory, while Millsaps finished the season at 8-17. DePauw faces Rhodes in Saturday's second semifinal at 7 p.m. CST.

The Tigers broke free from a 14-14 tie with an 11-2 run and then closed the half by scoring the final six points on the way to a 41-24 halftime advantage. The Majors got no closer than 14 the rest of the way and the Tigers' lead reached as many as 22 points.

Liz Bondi led the Tigers with 20 points, while Gretchen Haehl totaled 17 and Suzy Doughty added 11. Bridget Bailey grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and Cassie Pruzin matched a career high with seven assists.

Martha McDaniel paced Millsaps with 22 points, while Lindsay Alderman and Miranda Rosar each scored 11. Rosar added 12 rebounds in the loss.

The Tigers shot 43.4 percent for the game, while Millsaps connected on 39.3 percent. DePauw outrebounded the Majors 53-33 and hauled down 27 offensive rebounds.
