In 'Sweet 16,' DePauw Women Host NCAA Basketball Regional This Weekend

DSC_8417.jpgMarch 6, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - In the NCAA Division III women's basketball tournament regional to be played in Greencastle Friday and Saturday, "host DePauw of Indiana, ranked No. 4, is a favorite but faces challenges from third-ranked St. Louis-Washington and sixth-ranked Hope," notes an article in Maine's Portland Press. The Tigers, ranked fourth in the latest D3hoops.com rankings and fifth in the DSC_8481.jpgUSA Today/ESPN Coaches' poll, enter the round of 16 with a 28-1 record and on a 27-game win streak. In Friday's second game, DePauw will take on 25-4 Wheaton (Ill.) College which is ranked 14th by D3hoops.com and 18th in the coaches' poll.

Friday's opening game features third-ranked and 25-2 Washington University (St. Louis) against 29-1 Hope College which is ranked sixth by D3hoops.com and fourth in the coaches' poll.

The winners will meet on Saturday, March 11, with that winner advancing to the Division III semifinals in Springfield, Mass.
