Tigers fall to Lions, 11-7

March 29, 2006, Demorest, Ga. - DePauw dropped to 9-10 on the season following an 11-7 loss at Piedmont. The Lions improved to 14-11 with the victory.

The host Lions jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning on five singles before DePauw scored a pair in the third. Piedmont added three in the third, two in the fourth and one each in the sixth and eighth innings to take an 11-2 lead.

The Tigers scored five runs in the top of the ninth on Kyle Dobbs' bases loaded walk, Chris Newman's RBI single and Jeremy Dickinson's two-run double. Newman later scored on a passed ball.

DePauw totaled eight hits with Dickinson and Newman each totaling two. The Tigers were unable to take advantage of eight Piedmont walks as they left 13 runners stranded.

Piedmont finished with 16 hits led by Mike Santowksi, Evan Nissley and Stan Brosko with three apiece and Walker Searcy with two. Andy Graf improved to 2-1 with the win, while John Kihlken dropped to 3-2.

The Tigers travel to LaGrange on Thursday.
