Tigers improve to 24-7 with sweep at Franklin

April 18, 2006, Franklin, Ind. - The Tigers improved to 24-7 on the season and extended their win streak to a school-record 10 straight as they swept Franklin by scores of 9-1 and 7-3. Franklin dropped to 8-14 with the losses.

In the opener, Lauren Curosh improved to 15-6 after allowing six hits over seven innings. Heather Cook dropped to 4-4 with the loss.

The Tigers scored five in the fourth to break open a close game. DePauw totaled 14 hits with Ashley Sewell and Chelsy Patterson leading the way with three each and Nicole Kernan following with two. Jill Carson had two of Franklin's six hits.

Sewell and Kernan each drove in a pair as Sewell hit a two-run homer in the fourth and Kernan followed with a solo shot.

In the nightcap, DePauw totaled 12 hits led by Kristy Mahon and Carolyn Bartlett with three each and Jessica Krueger and Jessica Bowlds with two apiece. Bartlett drove in three in the victory.

Heather Watson, Marlene Russo and Margo Mast each collected two of Franklin's seven hits.

Katherine Veatch improved to 9-1 and matched a career high with nine strikeouts. Alyssa Grimm droped to 2-4 with the loss.

The Tigers travel to Centre for Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday.
