DePauw finishes third at SCAC Championship

April 29, 2006, Sewanee, Tenn. - DePauw finished third at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship after losing to Millsaps by an 11-1 count. DePauw dropped to 19-23 overall, while the Majors improved to 33-11.

DePauw jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first on Matt Deahl's double that scored Matt Kleine, but the Majors scored 11 unanswered runs to advance to Sunday's championship. Jason Hadley hit a two-run homer in the third, while Luke Morrow hit a solo shot in the fourth and Garner Wetzel hammered a two-run homer in the fifth.

Adrian Norris led the Tigers with two of their seven hits, while the Majors totaled 15 hits led by Justin Carter and Morrow with three each and Nick Crawford, Hadley, Wetzel and Hunter Abrams with two apiece.

Jay Hollenbeck improved to 4-0, while Bill Metzinger dropped to 1-4.

The Tigers host Hanover on Tuesday, May 2, at 4 p.m.
