C-SPAN to Cover Sen. Evan Bayh's Commencement Address at DePauw
May 9, 2006
May 9, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - As DePauw prepares to graduate one of the largest classes in its recent history in twelve days, C-SPAN also has plans in Greencastle on May 21. The national cable television network has notified the University that it plans to videotape the address to graduates by United States Senator Evan Bayh -- a potential presidential candidate in 2008 -- and will air the speech at a later date.
DePauw's 167th Annual Commencement will take place Sunday, May 21 at 1 p.m. on the lawn of historic East College (weather permitting). Approximately 600 students are expected to receive diplomas in the ceremonies, which will also feature the awarding of honorary degrees to Senator Bayh (seen at right) and George H. Aldrich, a 1954 graduate of DePauw, who is a judge for the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal in The Hague, Netherlands.
A DVD of the commencement ceremony will be produced. Information and an order form can be accessed by clicking here.
