Churchill Downs Promotes Julie Koenig Loignon '88 to VP of Communications

Julie Koenig Loignon.JPGJune 28, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - Julie Koenig Loignon, a 1988 graduate of DePauw University, has been promoted to vice president of communications of Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI). Koenig Loignon has been with the company since 1999, serving most recently as director of communications. In her new role, she reports directly to CDI president and CEO Tom Meeker and oversees strategic, financial, and crisis communications planning, as well as employee communications and media services for the company and its flagship racetrack, Churchill Downs.

"Koenig Loignon was introduced to the horse racing industry through her work as a television journalist," notes a story at the Web site of Blood-Horse magazine. "She joined WHAS-TV in Louisville in 1993 and Churchill Downs Logo.gifserved as an anchor, reporter, and special projects producer and covered the horse racing and breeding industries. She was also part of the special projects team that produced the station's award-winning Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Derby Festival coverage each year. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind."
