Merle Allshouse '57 Appointed President of Bloomfield College

Merle F Allshouse.jpgSeptember 10, 1971, Greencastle, Ind. - Merle F. Allshouse, a 1957 graduate of DePauw University, is the new president of Bloomfield College in New Jersey. Dr. Allshouse, who was dean of the college, was appointed to the presidency after Kenneth B. O'Brien Jr. resigned.

A Rector Scholar, Allshouse majored in philosophy and history at DePauw. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. from Yale University, where he received the Rockefeller Theological Fellowship, the Rockefeller Doctoral Fellowship, the Bois-Kilburn Old DePauw Gold EC Logo.jpgFellowship, and was elected a Kent Fellow.

Allshouse, who is married to the former Myrna Mansfield '56, taught at Yale and Dickinson College before his appointment at Bloomfield. He is the author of a number of articles and reviews.
