DePauw falls to Petrels in overtime

October 6, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - Oglethorpe's David Muller nailed a penalty kick with 7:06 left in the second overtime and gave the Stormy Petrels a 2-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win over DePauw at Boswell Field.

DePauw dropped to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in the SCAC, while Oglethorpe improved to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference.

The Stormy Petrels took a 1-0 lead on Danner Mardsen's goal in the 43rd minute with Muller adding the assist. DePauw's Nick Noel tied the game in the 75th minute on a penalty kick.

Oglethorpe outshot DePauw DePauw 16-14 and held a 9-5 edge in corners. Sean Fernandes recorded 11 saves for Oglethorpe, while John Fenley had eight for DePauw.

DePauw hosts Sewanee at noon on Sunday.
