Noel earns ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® honors

nnoel092006.jpgNovember 20, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - Senior forward Nick Noel has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® College Division Men's Soccer First Team. He was one of 11 players from NCAA Divisions II and III and NAIA selected to the first team.

The Zionsville, Ind., native has a 3.59 cumulative grade point average while majoring in education and minoring in Spanish.

Noel, the 2006 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year, led the Tigers and the SCAC this season with 45 points and shared the league lead with 17 goals. At the conclusion of the regular season, he ranked ninth in Division III points per game, 19th in goals per game and 20th in assists per contest.

In just two seasons at DePauw, he ranked 10th with 28 career goals and 17 assists and tied for ninth with 73 points.

The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® teams are selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America. To be considered for the teams, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better and be a starter or important reserve.
