Tigers Keep Monon Bell by Defeating Wabash in Tough Conditions, 17-7

November 15, 1969

November 15, 1969, Greencastle, Ind. - Playing on a snow-covered and windy Blackstock Stadium turf, the Tigers finished their 1969 season in strong fashion, defeating Wabash College by a 17-7 score. The victory keeps the Monon Bell on the DePauw University campus for a second straight year and gives the Tigers a 2-7 record for the season. Wabash finishes 3-6.

Tiger senior quarterback Ron McBride threw a 39-yard completion to Scott Ralston in the third quarter, with Wabash ahead 7-3.  Six plays later sophomore Doug Maple ran the ball in from two yards out, and DePauw claimed a 10-7 lead.

A Mark Dinwiddie interception at the goal line extinguished a later Wabash drive.  The home team iced the victory when McBride (pictured at right) ran the ball in from 13 yards out.
