Fifth-ranked Tigers win eighth straight; advance to Surf N' Slam semifinals

December 28, 2006, San Diego, Calif. - Fifth-ranked DePauw improved to 9-1 on the season and picked up its eighth straight victory in a 68-40 win over Kenyon (2-7) in the first game of the San Diego Surf N' Slam Classic at Point Loma Nazarene University.
The Tigers advance to the Friday's 2 p.m. PST (5 p.m. EST) semifinal where they'll take 21st-ranked Medaille which won its quartefinal game by a 58-38 score over Salve Regina. Live stats for that game are available here.
Kenyon led by as many as nine at 19-10 after a 10-0 run, but DePauw outscored the Ladies 20-2 over the final seven minutes of the half to take a 30-21 lead into the intermission. The Tigers then opened the second half by scoring the first 10 points and extend the margin to 40-21.
Liz Bondi paced the Tigers with 11 points, while Emily Marshall followed with 10. Anne Dugan led Kenyon with 14 points before fouling out.
The Tigers shot 50 percent for the game to Kenyon's 34 percent and the Tigers held a 44-27 edge on the boards. Bondi and Marshall each grabbed seven rebounds, while three Kenyon players totaled four apiece.
