Paper Edited by DePauw Freshman is Finalist for National Award

students library snow 2005.jpgJanuary 13, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - "Carmel High School's student newspaper, HiLite, has been named one of only 43 publications throughout the nation as a finalist in the annual Crown Awards competition sponsored by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association in New York City," reports the Indianapolis Star. "Papers published during the 2005-06 school year were entered in the competition last spring. Matt Welch, now a freshman at DePauw, served as editor-in-chief last year." 

The item adds, "In addition to the Crown Awards nomination, the HiLiteearned all-Columbian honors in two of the critique's individual categories -- graphic presentation and business operations. The newspaper received 933 of a possible 1,000 points in the annual evaluation."
