Bondi's 23 paces Tigers in win over Southwestern

January 20, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw senior forward Liz Bondi scored 23 and led the Tigers to a 69-48 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win over Southwestern.

DePauw ranked 10th by and 11th in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' poll, improved to 16-2 overall and 6-1 in the SCAC and extended its SCAC record streak to 31 straight conference home wins. The Pirates dropped to 9-8 overall and 2-5 in the SCAC.

The Tigers closed the first half with a 15-2 run over the final six minutes to take a 31-13 halftime lead. The Pirates closed the gap to 14 early in the second half, but DePauw rattled off 10 straight points and put the game away.

Bondi led all scorers with 23 and hit 9-of-13 from the floor. Kalei Lowes added 11 in the win, while Cassie Pruzin and Bridget Bailey each grabbed eight rebounds. Suzy Doughty paced DePauw with six assists.

Kendal George led Southwestern with 12 points and Natasha Azizi followed with 10. Amanda Gordon grabbed a team-high six rebounds.

DePauw shot 43.6 percent from the floor and held the Pirates to just 35.1 percent including only 23 percent in the first half. The Tigers hit 7-of-18 three-pointers and held a 48-28 advantage on the boards.

DePauw travels to Rhodes on Friday, January 26, while Southwestern hosts Oglethorpe next Friday.
