Jazz at the Duck Presents John Spicknall Trio Thursday

John Spicknall.jpgFebruary 5, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - Pianist John Spicknall brings his trio to DePauw Jazz at the Duck this Thursday, February 8, for a free performance. The music begins at 9 p.m. at Walden Inn's Fluttering Duck.

A veteran performer, Spicknall's extensive credits include appearances with such artists as Art Pepper, Bobby Shew, Clark Terry, Gary Burton, and Louis Bellson. Spicknall -- a part-time professor in the DePauw University School of Music -- is also in great demand as a jazz educator, appearing and performing at national conferences such as the International Association of Jazz Educator's convention.

Walden Inn 2007.jpgFor Thursday's performance Spicknall will be joined by DePauw professor and bassist Paul Musser, as well as drummer and noted master of the brushes John DiCenso. The program features jazz standards, including works by such greats as Dave Brubeck and Cole Porter.

Now in its fifth season, DePauw Jazz at the Duck continues each Thursday through May 10. Upcoming series highlights include the Greg Spero Trio (February 15), OffRamp Quartet (February 22), and Condition Blue featuring Randy Salman (March 1).
