Robert Oxnam '37 Installed as President of Drew University

robert oxnam.jpgOctober 13, 1961, Greencastle, Ind. - Robert F. Oxnam, a 1937 graduate of DePauw University, was today installed as the eighth president of Drew University at exercises on the Madison, New Jersey campus. Dr. Oxnam was named to head the university last November and assumed the office July 1, after serving since 1957 as president of Pratt Institute in New York City.

The son of Methodist Bishop G. Bromley Oxnam, former DePauw president, Robert Oxnam has also held administrative and teaching posts at Boston University, Syracuse University and the University of Southern East College Spring 2006.jpgCalifornia. He holds M.A., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from USC.

Oxnam, who was a Rector Scholar at DePauw, also served with the Army infantry during World War II, becoming captain while on duty in the European Theater.
