Women Are SCAC Basketball Champs After 73-60 Win Over Oglethorpe; Men Get At-Large NCAA Bid

February 25, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw University's women's basketball team is the champion of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference for the third time in the last four years. The Tigers defeated Oglethorpe 73-60 in the SCAC championship game this afternoon in Memphis, Tennessee. Now 25-3 on the season and ranked #11 in the nation, the women earn a fourth straight trip to the NCAA Division III tournament.
Liz Bondi (seen at top cutting down the net after the victory) led DePauw with 16 points and 10 rebounds and was named thetournament's most valuable player for a second consecutive year. Emily Marshall added 9 points and a like number of boards. The Tigers roared back after trailing by a point at halftime.
DePauw's men's team -- which lost to Trinity in the semifinals of the tournament yesterday -- learned late tonight that they've received an at-large bid for the NCAA men's tourney.
