Tigers drop twinbill at Rhodes for series split

March 25, 2007, Memphis, Tenn. - DePauw dropped both ends of its second Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Rhodes and finished with a series split. The Lynx won today's doubleheader by scores of 5-0 and 19-6.

The Tigers dropped to 10-8 overall and 2-2 in the SCAC, while Rhodes improved to 24-4 overall and 10-2 in the conference.

Rhodes' Robert Flanagan improved to 9-0 after pitching a three-hitter, while DePauw's Brad Gerlach dropped to 1-1.

Matt Kleine, Mike Stout and Adam Ford each had singles for the Tigers while Richard Hurd, Brett Miller and Andy Boucher each had two of the Lynx's nine hits.

In the nightcap, Rhodes jumped out to a 6-0 lead with four in the first and two in the second. DePauw scored four in the third to close the gap to 6-4, but Rhodes added two in teh third, five in the fourth and sixth and one in the fifth.

The Tigers totaled eight hits as eight different playes had one each. Mason Mosby totaled four for Rhodes, while Brooks Royer and Daniel Vanaman each had three. Hurd, Matt Beesely and Boucher finished with two each as the Lynx totaled 20.

Max Gertz picked up the win in relief and improved to 1-0, while Derek Bryant dropped to 1-1 for the Tigers.

DePauw returns to action on Monday night when they face St. Olaf at 6 p.m. in Port Charlotte, Fla.
