March 26, 2007

dillonncaa.jpgMarch 26, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - "Leslie Dillon turned in an impressive performance by being the first female to finish the half marathon, finishing ninth overall (1:27:24)," notes a story in New Hampshire's Portsmouth Herald. The article details Sunday's Run to the Border Half Marathon in Salisbury, Massachusetts. "I just worked my way up from the back, felt good and I just picked it up," Dillon, a 2006 graduate of DePauw University, tells the newspaper. "I think there was a pack of women doing a 6:50 pace and I caught up to them and pulled away." (at left: Dillon with the All-America award at 2005 NCAA Division III Championships)

Dan Doyon writes, "Dillon moved from Indiana last summer after graduating from Division III DePauw University (Greencastle, Ind.), where she was an All-American cross-country runner. The 23-year-old hopes make a mark on the Seacoast road-racing scene this year. Sunday provided a dillon.jpggood start, as it was Dillon's first half marathon."

"I'd like to possibly train for a marathon this fall, but hopefully this summer I can run a lot of races," Dillon, a biology major who graduated cum laude, reports.
