Tim Solso '69 Wins 2007 American Business Award for 'Best Chairman'

Tim Solso 2006.jpgJune 12, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - Tim Solso, chairman and chief executive officer of Cummins Inc. and 1969 graduate of DePauw University, is the recipient of the 2007 American Business Award for "Best Chairman." Hailed as "the business world's version of the Oscars" by the New York Post, the American Business Awards (also known as the Stevie® Awards) is the only national, all-encompassing business awards program honoring great performances in the workplace. The 2007 ceremony took place last night in New York City.

The awards recognized a wide range of American companies and individuals in more than 40 categories. More than 2,000 nominations were submitted for the 2007 American Business Awards.

A member of DePauw's Board of Trustees, Solso recently delivered a keynote address at the Second Annual Conference for Corporate Responsibility Officers.

Cummins, along with General Mills, Inc., guided by chairman and CEO Steve Sanger '68, are both among the nation's top 50 companies for diversity, according to a recent survey by DiversityInc magazine. Details can be found in this previous story.
